Saving With Light Bulbs Print E-mail
Monday, 02 October 2006
With the cost of energy seeming to increase by the week, we should all be looking for new and innovative ways to save money on our electric bills.  One of the best ways that you can cut the cost of electricity in your home is with light bulbs.  You do not have to buy light bulbs that waste energy, instead you can opt to buy different light bulbs to save on energy costs now and in the future.

One of the best things you can do to save energy with light bulbs is to buy energy efficient light bulbs.  This type of light bulb often has a specific spiral shape and the light is just as bright as from your typical bulb, but use less energy.  This can save you literally hundreds of dollars per year if you replace all of your standard light bulbs with the energy saving variety.

If you are not satisfied with the amount of light that is provided by the energy saving light bulbs, you can still save on your electric bill.  There are some very simple things you can do like putting a timer on outside lights so that you’re not wasting energy during the hours when outside lights are not needed.  You can also replace all of the high wattage light bulbs in your home with lower wattage bulbs.  This may sound silly, but it is a great idea.  If you replace all of the 100-watt light bulbs in your home with 60-watt bulbs, you probably will not see a change in the amount of light and you will certainly be using a lot less energy.

Just these little changes can make a big difference in your electric bill each month.  Energy forecasters are saying that the cost of electricity will continue to increase over the next few years, so why not consider that replacing your light bulbs can help save you some money.  Light bulbs are the biggest electricity users in your home, so change them out and keep your electricity bill as low as possible.
