As with any business, the location or situation of your coffee franchise is a crucial component of whether it will succeed or fail. With coffee, especially, however, as a commodity that is often an impulse purchase and where speed is of the essence, it is absolutely imperative that your coffee franchise be easy to access.
As with any business, the location or situation of your coffee franchise is a crucial component of whether it will succeed or fail. With coffee, especially, however, as a commodity that is often an impulse purchase and where speed is of the essence, it is absolutely imperative that your coffee franchise be easy to access. Though your coffee franchise can become quite a hot spot where patrons spend hours sipping $5 coffee creations and nibbling on pastries while playing chess or reading, in the morning, the bulk of your sales will come from a plain cup of coffee and bagels with cream cheese. The low price of your coffee per cup versus an espresso drink will be made up for in volume – as long as there is either plenty of parking and your franchise is on a main thoroughfare. Accessibility to foot traffic is a great plus. If your coffee franchise is in a city, there is no other way to succeed. A large percentage of your business will be from passers-by, either on their way to or from work or in need of a pick me up as they shop. If you can choose a spot near a bus stop or subway station, all the better. Those with nothing to do for a few minutes while waiting for transportation are highly likely to pop in and grab a cup of coffee if it is within site of the bus stop. Choosing a downtown location will give you the advantage of business people as patrons during the day – and throughout the day – though your traffic will slow considerably at night. If a 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM day sounds good to you, then this is the situation that would be best for your coffee franchise. |
